KISSING THE DEATH AN ELEGY

Sanada Yukimura (真田 幸村?, 1567 – June 3, 1615), actual name: Sanada Nobushige (真田 信繁?), was a Japanese samurai warrior of the Sengoku period. He was especially known as the leading general on the defending side of the Siege of Osaka.

KISSING THE DEATH AN ELEGY

without a sound, eyes crying sadly

looked back, and looked again without passion

saw open doors and unattached gates

empty porches with no curtains or covers

where the soldiers who had promised faithful

the samurai have been transcribed

how can fight for the last bastion

defending the story of the mighty of ancestors

defend themselves without hawks

the eagles had changed feathers and the tiger had gone

I will accept my destiny with my eyes open

despite the torture of torture

will not be begging to the enemy

for the honor of the ancestors

I will kiss the death

kissing the death, an elegy translate from Mencumbui Kematian Sebuah Elegi

XXX

Describes the feeling of Toyotomi Hideyori, ahead of the fall of Osaka Castle on the Tokugawa Ieyasu army. After hearing the most powerful samurai, Yukimura Sanada fought desperately to pick up death on the front. Alone to keep the honor of his master.
